Carport garages – If you are tired of parking your car in the sun, the rain and snow, a basic carport may be just what you need. This simple shelter for your vehicle will protect from exposure to the elements without building permits or licensed professionals. You can also convert the garage into a basic wooden garage uniting three of the walls. If you’re going to do more than that, however, you will have to see if you need to obtain building permits.
Measure the space for the carport garages. It must be 16 feet long by 10 feet wide (4.9 by 3 m). Clava two rods on the floor beyond each of the four sides of the garage. Stretched a rope across each pair of rods to mark the four sides. The strings will intersect at the corners of the garage; all within the rectangle formed will be covered.

Cava six square holes, 1 foot (30 cm) wide and 2 feet (60 cm) deep. Four must be centered on the four corners marked with rope, and two at the midpoint of the long sides of the carport garages. Pour 6 inches (15 cm) of concrete in each hole and allowed to harden. Put a pole 4 by 4 in one of the holes. Use a level to make sure it is vertical to the intersection of the two strings.
